1:30 pm: Mindfulness Based Class for Chronic Pain1:30 pm: Mindfulness Based Class for Chronic Pain – This time-limited psychoeducation class is designed to help participants develop ways to cope with chronic pain and the difficult emotions, losses and social challenges that arise from its experience. Participants will be introduced to the concept of mindfulness and other evidence-based skills. Mindfulness is a skill in which benefit comes from practice. Signing up for this class means committing to practice daily for 8 weeks in order to experience benefit. Please note -This group is not long-term psychology support and not a substitute for other ongoing treatments and care. This group will be offered on Tuesdays, starting February 6th – March 26th, 2024 (8 weeks) from 1:30 pm – 3:00 (island time) (1:00 pm – 2:30 Labrador)Please email nlgroups@nlhealthservices.ca to get more information. Please indicate which group you are connecting for in your subject line. 6:00 pm: Anxiety Treatment Group6:00 pm: Anxiety Treatment Group – This group is for adults (ages 18+) who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety. This 10 week group draws upon Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to understand and treat symptoms of anxiety. This group explores the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours and addresses each component of this interaction with skills and tools that are helpful in supporting recovery. It also looks at triggers and causes of anxiety and how to address these factors. This group is for people who are actively seeking to engage in the recovery process, and are willing to try to practice the skills taught in the group setting. The Anxiety Treatment Group will be offered on Tuesdays starting January 23, 2024 (10 weeks) and will be held at 6:00-8:30 pm island time (5:30-8:00 Labrador). Please email nlgroups@nlhealthservices.ca to get more information – Please indicate which group you are connecting for in your subject line 6:00 pm: Gender Journey's Group6:00 pm: Gender Journey's Group – The Gender Journey’s Group main goal is to create a safe space to explore Gender Identify and Gender Expression. We hope that at the end of this group folks will feel a part of a larger community, have more comfort and clarity around their own identity, and feel supported to live their life in the way that feels most comfortable with them. As the name of the group indicates, we are not trying to arrive at a specific outcome or “destination” that is the same for everybody, we are embracing the journey for each individual. This group is a partnership between NL Health Services, Quadrangle NL and Lifewise. The Gender Journey’s Group will be offered virtually on Tuesday’s starting January 16th – March 12th, 2024 (9 weeks) from 6:00 pm – 8:00 island time (5:30 pm – 7:30 Labrador time). This 10 week group draws upon Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to understand and treat symptoms of depression. This group explores the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and addresses each component of this interaction with skills and tools that are helpful in supporting recovery. This group provides a safe space for people to connect with others who are also experiencing mental health issues. Struggles can be related to things such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stress, self-esteem, intense emotions, or many other types of mental health symptoms. A diagnosis is not necessary. The Mental Health Skills and Recovery Group will be offered on Thursday’s, starting January 18th – March 21st, 2024 (10 weeks) from 1:30 pm -4:00 island time (1:00 pm -3:30 Labrador).
