  • Mental Health Drop-in Group

    This drop-in group is available to any residents of Newfoundland and Labrador, age 18+. This group aims to provide a safe space for individuals to meet and explore topics related to their mental health. Group topics can vary from week to week, based on the needs and interests of those present. This drop-in group can be attended as needed and sign up is ongoing. There is no obligation to commit to regular attendance for this group (however weekly attendance is also welcome). Facilitators are trained mental health clinicians from NL Health Services.

    The Mental Health Drop-in Group will be offered on Tuesday’s – starting January 19th from 5:30 pm – 7 island time (5 pm – 6:30 Labrador).

    Addictions Drop-in Group

    Have you experienced problems with alcohol, drug use or gambling? Would you like to connect with others who are in various stages of recovery? This group is for the person who is just starting out in looking at their substance use or gambling, or the person who has been making changes and is seeking some supports to continue.

    The Addictions Drop-In Group is available to provide a safe space to connect, learn, and grow; with skilled Clinicians providing support and guidance to the process. This group is available for people who may not need, or cannot commit to, weekly attendance (however weekly attendance is also an option). It is also available for those who may be interested in exploring harm reduction options. The only commitment required is that you are clean on the day you attend group.

    The addictions Drop-In Group is available virtually through zoom on Tuesdays from 6-7:30 pm (island time). This is an ongoing group that can be joined at any time. For more information, or to sign up email addictionsgroups@easternhealth.ca

    We would like to invite you to take part in our Wellness Wednesday’s. Wellness Wednesdays provide the opportunity for all residents of the province (age 18+) to learn information, and tools, to support good mental health. These sessions are offered by local mental health staff who are a part of the Mental Health Program of NL Health Services. Each week there will be a different topic of learning. People can attend one week, or as many as they like.

    *What these sessions are for:
    Sometimes we can get overwhelmed looking for the right information to help us improve our mental health. Sometimes we have not had the opportunity to access information and learn effective skills. These sessions will provide a safe, low barrier way to access information that is effective and relevant to you. Sessions will be offered by zoom so that people can access them from the comfort of their own home, no matter where they live in the province.

    *How it works:
    Email nlgroups@nlhealthservices.ca to register to get the zoom link (you need to register prior to 3:00 on the day of the session you wish to attend).
    When emailing please indicate the date you are seeking to register for.
    Sessions are free.
    People are encouraged to turn their camera on, but it is not mandatory (you also do not need to provide your name when attending).

    Alcohol, drug use and gambling can impact a person’s life in all areas, when it is no longer social. Sometimes people have tried to stop, or make changes on their own, but have not been able to keep the changes going. Reaching out for help can be the first step needed to start the recovery process. The Addictions Early Recovery Group is available to help people who are working toward an abstinence based recovery.

    This group is for people who are in the early stages of making changes and looking at how to live their life alcohol, drug &/or gambling free. Complete abstinence is not required to join, but people are working toward an addiction free life. Support will be provided by Clinicians of NL Health Services to group members to explore their use, set goals, and to gain skills to make changes in their life. This is a safe, non-judgmental space.

    This is an open group that people can join at any time. Weekly attendance is encouraged. This group will be held on Wednesdays from 1:30-3:30 (island time).
