The Adult Eating Disorder Continuum provides a provincial, specialized service for clients and their families. This program helps people improve their eating disorder symptoms, challenge thoughts and behaviours, and develop a new means of coping with everyday stressors.
Who this service is for:
Clients who are 18 years of age or older who have been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa or other specified feeding and eating disorder (OSFED).
This service does not accept referrals for those with a diagnosis of binge eating disorder, night eating related disorders, or avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). These referrals can be directed to Adult Central Intake.
How to access this service:
A referral to the program can be made by a physician or nurse practitioner using the Adult Eating Disorders Referral For Assessment Form. Medical follow-up is required during participation in treatment. All referrals for clients under the age of 18 will be sent to the Adolescent Medicine Team at the Janeway.
Once a referral is received, the client will be invited to attend an orientation session. The client can also invite family members/loved ones to attend a separate orientation session offered at the same time. If a client wants to have further assessments, they will have an intake assessment to decide their treatment pathway within the Eating Disorder Continuum. The client will be invited to attend Foundations Group with further assessments from a dedicated interdisciplinary team.
