This group aims to provide a safe space for individuals to meet and explore topics related to their mental health. Group topics can vary from week to week, based on the needs and interests of those present. This drop-in group can be attended as needed and sign up is ongoing. There is no obligation to commit to regular attendance for this group (however weekly attendance is also welcome). Facilitators are trained mental health clinicians from NL Health Services.

The Mental Health Skills and Recovery Group is 10 week group that is intended to support folks who are wanting to gain more insight into their own experiences around mental health; and to learn skills to improve coping. This group provides a safe space for people to connect with others who are also experiencing mental health issues. Struggles can be related to things such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stress, self-esteem, intense emotions, or many other types of mental health symptoms. This 10 week group draws upon Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to understand and treat symptoms of depression. This group explores the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and addresses each component of this interaction with skills and tools that are helpful in supporting recovery. It also looks at triggers and causes of depression and how to address these factors. This group is for people who are actively seeking to engage in the recovery process, and are willing to try to practice the skills taught in the group setting.

Wellness Wednesdays provide the opportunity for all residents of the province (age 18+) to learn information, and tools, to support good mental health. These sessions are offered by local mental health staff who are a part of the Mental Health Program of NL Health Services. Each week there will be a different topic of learning. People can attend one week, or as many as they like.

Sometimes we can get overwhelmed looking for the right information to help us improve our mental health. Sometimes we have not had the opportunity to access information and learn effective skills. These sessions will provide a safe, low barrier way to access information that is effective and relevant to you. Sessions will be offered by zoom so that people can access them from the comfort of their own home, no matter where they live in the province.
